PCNS can perform limited data recovery.  In many cases some or all files can be recovered from a failing or failed hard drive (in a single, non raid configuration), saving the customer potentially hundreds or thousands of dollars.  If PCNS cannot recover any data, there is no charge.

Serious, catastrophic issues, such as drive bearing failure (otherwise known as frozen spindles), water damage, or burned circuit boards as a result of a power surge or lightning strikes require specialized services, such as OnTrack Data Systems or DriveSavers.com.  Data recovery from specialty providers can run into the thousands of dollars, so it's used mainly in business.
